The Second International science-practice Conference «Ukrainian Amber World» gathered together amber specialists from all over the world: experts, artists, Scientists and all people who love the “Sun Stone”.

The agenda included analyzing the changes that have occurred in the industry over the year, methods of controlling illegal extracting, current issues in the study of stocks amber extraction and treatment of amber, ways of popularizing the history and properties of amber, processing and using amber in jewelry, medicine and so on. The conference was interested not only for scientists.

Alexander Zhuravlev art- restorer of the highest category, the head of group of artists of restoration work in famous Amber Room and member of the presidium of the World Council of Amber made master-class “Art processing of Amber”.

Ukrainian artists had chance to learn something new from famous amber artist. The  master-class demonstrated  techniques, tools, special tools and small tweaks in the processing and amber carving , recommendations on the use of adhesives and mastics.

October 17, 2008 within the framework of the conference was meeting of the "round table" on "Prospects for extracting and legalization cycle of amber in Ukraine" with the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, State Gemological Center of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, representatives of Rivne Regional State Administration, the Institute of Geological Sciences of Ukraine, Ministry of environmental protection of Ukraine and the secretariat of the President of Ukraine.
