The “Amber Mosaic at St. Sophia” project to be continued. Especially for the Independence Day of Ukraine the project team created two new artworks based on Ukrainian embroidered towels, the art mosaic panels: “Ukrainian wedding towel” and “Ukrainian Cossacks\ ”Tree of Life “.

Original amber mosaics will be displayed in the exhibition halls of Zaborowski Gate at the National Reserve “St.Sophia of Kyiv” starting from August 23, 2014

“Amber Mosaic at St. Sophia” is a joint project of the NR “St.Sophia of Kyiv” and “Ukrainian Amber World” Association. It was founded in 2013 in order to bring spiritual heritage of previous generations to contemporaries. Within the framework of the project the team of contemporary artists create mosaics made of Ukrainian Amber, based on unique frescoes and mosaics, preserved in the St.Sophia’s Cathedral, St. Cyril’s Church and other World Heritage Sites. The project gained international status, presenting artworks during the events dedicated to the Days of Culture of Ukraine in Turkey and in Azerbaijan.
